How the sparks are created

Small Firestones are embedded approximately 5 mm into the blade. During normal street hockey movement, the blade can make contact with the playing surface. On a hard, rough surface such as asphalt or concrete, that contact produces visible sparks.

The effect comes from the blade and the ground—not from batteries, fuel, or an electronic component. There is nothing to charge before play. The player simply uses the stick for outdoor street hockey on a suitable surface.

Why the playing surface matters

Asphalt and concrete provide the hard contact needed for the Firestones to spark. Softer surfaces such as grass, carpet, rubber flooring, or ice will not produce the same effect and are not the intended environment for the sparking blade.

A dry, open play area usually gives the clearest result. Remove loose debris before the game and keep players away from traffic, vehicles, windows, dry leaves, fuel, or other flammable materials. The sparks are most visible in lower light, but the play area still needs enough light for everyone to see the ball, other players, and surrounding hazards.

A hockey shape, not just a visual effect

The Rocket Hockey 2.0 uses a P92-style curve designed to support familiar puck or ball control and lift. It is available in left- and right-handed versions so players can select the orientation that matches their normal stance.

How long do the sparks last?

Spark life depends on how often the stick is used, the roughness of the playing surface, the player’s style, and how frequently the blade contacts the ground. Because the Firestones are embedded into the blade, the effect is designed to continue through normal outdoor wear rather than disappear after a few touches.

Over time, every outdoor blade wears down. As the embedded material is consumed, the sparks will gradually become less frequent. The blade can still be used for regular street hockey after the sparking effect has worn down, provided it remains structurally sound and passes a normal safety inspection.

When should the blade be replaced?

Replace the blade if it is cracked, badly damaged, loose at the shaft connection, or too worn for controlled play. Inspect it before each session, especially after hard impacts. A replaceable-blade design means the existing S2 shaft can be reused rather than discarding the full stick.

Simple safety rules

The sparking blade is suitable for players age 6 and up. Adult supervision is required for players under 14, and eye protection is strongly recommended for everyone. Good street hockey habits still apply: control the stick, keep space between players, use an appropriate ball, and stop play if equipment becomes damaged.
